Lexi's Bridal Shower

This past weekend, I got to celebrate one of my sweet friends for her upcoming nuptials.
The lovely Lexi had her bridal shower on Saturday. I got the privilege to bake her 6-layer vanilla cake. { let me tell you, 6 layers... not the easiest. } Bridal showers with friends bring me so much joy! Not only are they a super happy occasion, but they remind me of all the wonderful times I had at my wedding showers over 2 years ago {that long ago? uhm, WHOA! } This was hosted at the beautiful home of Emily Speir, so I couldn't help but take pictures of everything.
We decided to do a "naked" cake. This one didn't turn out as nice as it could have ( probably because I iced it in about 2 minutes), but we really liked the whimsical feeling it had. If you ever didn't buy/make enough icing, or don't have time to do a mega decorating job, naked cakes are the way to go! They are so beyond easy, you can't really mess them up, and they are adorable! Especially when topped with a fun little cake topper { thanks to Audrey! }
Oh, yes. I went the cake box route. When limited on time, what's a girl to do? // Prepare better, like maybe the night before, you say? Naaaaah! :)
Mm-MMM! My kitchen was smelling mighty good at this point.
Also, WAY easy to cut. Just each layer at a time! AND there was plenty of icing on each piece even though the outsides weren't iced.
The absolutely BEAUTIFUL bride.
Adorable idea. Have a bunch of small canvases ( 4"x4" ) and paint for all the shower guests to paint a canvas for you and your future hubby. Loved this.
Always have a designated area for photos. This was PERFECT! Emily just hung a sheet on a wall ( near a window for natural light if possible ) and some cute heart garland ( Target during Valentine's Day ) to make the perfect spot for a "photo booth". Oh, and of course add an adorable chalkboard sign with details. This chalkboard sign was probably my favorite detail of this shower. SO CUTE.
ps. props are always a fun idea.
Gorgeous cousins! // I am so sad... I was taking so many pictures, I forgot to get one of me and the bride :(
And to end that very fantastic Saturday, I took my sweet puppy on a walk. The weather was too good not to. And I of course cannot help to take pictures of that sweet face.
What a fun and blessed Saturday I had. Can I have another bridal shower please? :)
